독립기념일은 인도의 국경일로, 매년 8월 15일에 해당한다.
1947년 8월 15일 영국으로부터 독립한 것을 기념하기 위해 제정하였다.
독립기념일에는 인도 전역에서 깃발 게양식, 퍼레이드, 문화 행사 등이 이루어지며 공휴일이다.
2026년 8월 15일(토) 오전 7:00 주한인도대사관은 인도 교민 및 인도를 사랑하는 모든 분들을 인도 제80주년 독립기념일 기념행사에 초대해서 관내에서 국기 게양식, 인도 대통령 대국민 연설 대독, 교민 행사 등 진행했다.
